Activities

Friday:

Check-in officially opens at 3, however there will be people on-site starting at 10am that can get you signed in if you’re early.

There will be cave trip sign ups and cave / hiking trail maps for reference at registration. There will some blank trip signups too if you’d like to create your own trip and have people sign up!

Check-in closes at 11pm. This has been a request of the camp ground that people are in by 11. As was said in the previous email: If this will be a problem, email me today, and I’ll make sure we can get you in.

Saturday:

Caving!

We will have a shuttle to New River Cave just down the road leaving in the morning, and coming back late afternoon if you would like to check that cave out.
All other trips will coordinate their transportation to their spots.

Speleobooks will also be in attendance and setup!

Dinner

In the evening we will have a dinner cooked by VPI’s Alex Booker if you purchased that a pre registration.
Speakers
We will have two speakers in the evening.
Phillip Moneyhun will give a presentation on the work that has been going on in Newberrys.
Bob Alderson  will be discussing his exploration and finds in the local NSS Cave preserve, New River Cave. So come out and hear about the bruises from the Meat Grinder, daring leaps across Jacobs Window, and the final discover of Parrot’s Roost!
Afterwards there will be a bonfire set up for us by the New River Junction and possibly a dance party!

Sunday:

More Caving!

If you signed up for a Sunday trip, those will all be going out. There will not be a shuttle to New River Cave, so if you would like to check it out, feel free to park at the parking area.
VAR Meeting

The VAR meeting will be held at the main tent at 9am.
Gear/T shirt swap
Have a few grotto shirts you are bored of? Have a cave suit that just doesn’t fit you, or a pack you never seem to use? Bring them to the Fall VAR T-shirt and gear swap! We will be setting up an area to buy/sell/trade/give away your second hand gear and caving shirts.
